Slovenia: Industrial output jumps at the beginning of 2018
Industrial production growth accelerated further in January. Annual growth in output rose to a multi-year high of 12.7%, up from December’s already robust 12.2% year-on-year increase.
A breakdown of January’s result, released by the Statistical Institute, showed the upturn was fueled entirely by the manufacturing sector. On the other hand, both the mining and quarrying, and the electricity, gas and steam supply sectors recorded slight contractions.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production declined 1.2% in January, contrasting a 2.7% increase in December. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production rose to 8.9% in January, from 8.0% in December.
