Slovenia: Industrial production growth loses pace in March
Industrial production grew a strong but more moderate 6.4% year-on-year in March following a revised 7.2% expansion in February (previously reported: +7.5% year-on-year). A breakdown of the sub-sectors showed robust growth of the manufacturing and electricity, gas, steam, air conditioning supply sectors, while the mining and quarrying sector contracted more sharply. Manufacturing output rose 6.7% yoy in March after growing 7.6% yoy in the previous month. Electricity, gas and water supply climbed at almost double the rate, increasing 9.4% yoy in March after rising 5.2% yoy in February. On the other hand, mining and quarrying output contracted 24.4% yoy following a 18.9% yoy drop in the previous month.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial output climbed 0.5% in March after a 0.2% contraction in February. Annual average growth in industrial production edged down to 8.1% in March, down from 8.7% in February.
