Slovenia: Industrial production slows in July
Industrial production grew at a weaker pace of 5.9% year-on-year in July, down from a revised annual expansion of 6.3% in June (previously reported: -5.8% year-on-year). A breakdown of the sub-sector shows an across-the-board deterioration. Mining and quarrying output contracted 4.7%, contrasting a 10.5% rise in the previous month. While the manufacturing sector grew at broadly the same pace as the previous month (July: +6.6% yoy; June: +6.7% yoy), the electricity, gas, and water supply sector lost speed, growing 1.6% in July compared to 3.3% in June.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial output rebounded. In July, the industrial sector expanded 0.3% over the previous month, contrasting a 0.6% month-on-month contraction in June. Meanwhile, average growth in industrial production inched down to 8.6% in July from 8.7% in June.
