Slovenia: Harmonized inflation holds steady in February
Harmonized inflation came in at 3.4% in February, matching January’s figure. February’s figure marked the joint-weakest inflation rate since September 2021, but was still markedly above the Euro area average of 2.6%. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a slower pace in February, which offset accelerating price pressures for housing and utilities, and for hospitality.
The trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 6.2% in February (January: 6.7%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation ticked up to 3.4% in February, from the previous month’s 3.3%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.60% over the previous month in February, contrasting January’s 0.60% drop. February’s jump was the highest reading since September 2023.
