Spain: Economic sentiment increases in December
Economic sentiment rose to 101.4 in December from November’s 99.0. Consequently, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected healthier sentiment in the industrial and services sectors. Meanwhile, sentiment in the construction and retail sectors cooled in the surveyed month. Lastly, consumer confidence improved in December.
Referring to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations deteriorated, while the economic uncertainty index rose in December.
