Spain: Economic sentiment increases in January
Economic sentiment rose to 102.6 in January from December’s 101.2. January’s result marked the best performance since April 2023. As a result, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected improved sentiment in the industrial, services and retail sectors. Meanwhile, sentiment in the construction sector weakened. Finally, consumer confidence deteriorated in January.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index decreased in January.
