Spain: Housing permits growth eases in February
According to data published by the Ministry of Public Works, the Spanish Board of Architects approved 9,168 new construction permits in February. The figure was above the 8,305 permits granted in February 2018 but below the 9,306 permits granted in January. On an annual basis, permits rose 10.4% in February, well below January’s 39.0% upturn.
The moving three-month sum of permits totaled 26,073 in February, which represented a 23.6% increase from the same period last year and followed the 34.9% expansion recorded in January. That said, the current number of permits represents a mere fraction of the 268,266 permits that were granted during the July–September 2006 peak.
