Spain: Housing permits growth moderates in December
According to data published by the Ministry of Public Works (Ministerio de Fomento), the Spanish Board of Architects (Colegio de Arquitectos Técnicos) granted 7,599 new construction permits in December. The figure was above the 6,096 permits approved in December 2017 but below the 9,252 permits approved in November. On an annual basis, permits rose 24.7% in December, well below November’s 40.1% increase.
The moving three-month sum of permits totaled 25,434 in December, which represented a 26.6% increase from the same period of the previous year. The figure followed the 21.1% expansion recorded in November. However, the current number of permits represents a mere fraction of the 268,266 permits that were granted during the July–September 2006 peak.
