Spain: Housing permits growth quickens in April
The Spanish Board of Architects (Colegio de Arquitectos Técnicos) granted 7,106 new construction permits in April, according to data published by the Ministry of Public Works (Ministerio de Fomento). The figure was notably above the 4,908 permits approved in April 2017 but below the 8,461 permits approved in March. On an annual basis, permits rose a robust 44.8% in April, accelerating from March’s 17.8% increase.
The moving three-month sum of permits totaled 23,872 in April, which represented a 28.1% increase from the same period last year. The figure followed the 17.5% expansion recorded in March. However, the current number of permits represents a mere fraction of the 268,266 permits that were granted during the July–September 2006 peak.
