Spain: Retail sales gain traction in September
Retail sales rose a solid 3.6% year-on-year in September, accelerating from the revised 3.3% rise logged in August (previously reported: +3.2% year-on-year). September’s pick-up largely reflected stronger growth in sales of personal and household equipment goods.
On a distribution-based system, purchases at single retail, small chain and department stores quickened compared to August, while sales at large chain stores slowed in September.
Annual average retail sales growth climbed to 2.2% in September from 1.7% in the previous month.
