Spain: Retail sales rebound in April
Retail sales rose 0.8% month-on-month in seasonally adjusted terms in April (March: -0.4% mom). Looking at the details of the release, large chain stores sales expanded at a faster rate in April, while single retail stores sales rebounded. Meanwhile, small chain stores sales fell at a softer pace.
On an annual basis, retail sales rose at a more moderate pace of 0.3% in April (March: +0.9% yoy), the worst result since February 2023. Meanwhile, the trend improved slightly, with the annual average growth of retail sales coming in at 2.3%, up from March’s 2.2%.
