Spain: Retail sales growth deteriorates in May
Retail sales increased 18.8% year-on-year in May (April: +38.3% yoy). May’s notable downturn largely reflected easing large chain stores and single retail stores sales.
On a seasonally- and calendar-adjusted monthly basis, retail sales recorded zero growth in May (April: -0.5% mom). Meanwhile, the trend improved notably, with the annual average variation of retail sales coming in at plus 1.0% in May, contrasting April’s minus 2.0%.
