Spain: Retail sales remains broadly unchanged in September
Retail sales recorded zero growth compared to the same month a year earlier in September, which followed August’s 0.1% decrease. September’s improvement was largely driven by an improvement in large chain stores sales. In addition, single retail stores sales strengthened.
On a seasonally- and calendar-adjusted monthly basis, retail sales rebounded, rising 0.3% in September (August: -0.1% mom), the best result since March. Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth rose to 2.4% in September (August: +2.2%). This signals an improving trend in the retail trade sector.
