Spain: Unemployment rate hits lowest reading since Q3 2008 in Q2
The unemployment rate fell to 11.3% in Q2 from 12.3% in Q1. Q2’s result surprised markets on the downside and marked the lowest reading since Q3 2008. The number of employed people rose by 434,700, with job gains recorded in the services, industrial, construction and agricultural sectors.
Meanwhile the number of unemployed decreased by 222,600 people from Q1, and the number of people in the labor force rose by 212,100 to a total of 24.4 million.
