Spain: Unemployment rate falls in second quarter of the year
The jobless rate fell to 11.6% in Q2 from 13.3% in the first quarter. In absolute terms, the number of unemployed workers decreased by 365,300 people to 2.8 million in Q2.
Moreover, jobs were added in Q2. The services sector added the most jobs (+606,000), followed by the construction (+60,900) and the agricultural sectors (+1,500), while the industrial sector shed jobs (-64,500). Overall, a total of 603,900 jobs were added from the prior quarter. For its part, the workforce rose by 238,600 people in Q2 to a total of 23.8 million.
