Sweden: Economic sentiment hits highest reading since August 2022 in June
Economic sentiment came in at 96.9 in June, up from May’s 95.3. June’s result marked the strongest sentiment since August 2022. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger sentiment in the construction sector. Moreover, confidence in the services sector improved in June, whereas confidence in the retail sector rose in the surveyed month. Consumer sentiment improved in June. Lastly, sentiment in the industrial sector weakened.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index remained flat in June.
