Sweden: CPI and CPIF inflation accelerate in April
The consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.7% in April compared to the previous month, up from 0.2% in March. This was primarily caused by a pike in transport prices. CPI inflation accelerated to 2.1% in April from 1.9% in March. Core CPI inflation, which excludes volatile energy costs, hit 2.0% in April, up from 1.8% in March.
The CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF)—a key metric followed by the Central Bank—accelerated to 2.0% in April from 1.8% in March, hitting the mid-point of the Central Bank’s 1.0%–3.0% tolerance band but undershooting the 2.1% inflation rate that the Central Bank had expected. Core CPIF inflation inched up to 1.6% from 1.5%.
