Switzerland: KOF economic barometer rebounds in December
The KOF economic barometer—a leading composite indicator for the Swiss economy—rebounded to 96.4 points in December from November’s revised 92.6 points (previously reported: 93.0 points). This marked the highest reading since April, although the indicator remained below the series’ long-run average of 100 points, suggesting the economy will expand at a weaker pace in the short-term than the long-run average rate.
December’s rise was due in particular to improving dynamics in the manufacturing sector, with indicators for the service sector and foreign demand also encouraging.
