Switzerland: Inflation stable at 0.8% in December
Consumer prices were unchanged in December from a month earlier, contrasting November’s 0.1% decline. December’s reading was largely the result of higher prices for air transport and hotel accommodations offsetting lower prices for package holidays abroad and imported wines.
Inflation was stable from November at 0.8%. Moreover, annual average inflation rounded out the year at 0.5%, unchanged from November and once again its highest level in more than six years. Driving inflation over the course of last year were higher rents and rising fuel prices.
