Switzerland: Inflation stable at over eight-year high in August
Consumer prices were flat on a month-on-month basis in August, contrasting July’s 0.2% contraction. The August print came as higher prices for housing and energy; clothing and footwear; and household goods and services were compensated by a fall in the price of transport; recreation and culture; food and non-alcoholic beverages; and alcohol and tobacco.
Inflation meanwhile was stable at July’s 1.2% in August, which was the highest print since April 2010. Annual average inflation inched up to 0.9% in August, from 0.8% in July.
