Switzerland: Manufacturing PMI edges up in December
The manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) produced by Credit Suisse and procure.ch inched up to 57.8 points in December from 57.7 points in November. Consequently, the index remains comfortably above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction in the manufacturing sector and also above the index’s long-term average of 55.0 points. Overall in 2018, the PMI averaged 61.5 points, one of the highest in history and compares to averages seen in years of stellar growth, such as in 2007 and 2010.
