Switzerland: Retail sales broadly stable in February
In February, calendar-adjusted real retail sales contracted 0.2% from the same month a year ago, coming in slightly above the upwardly-revised 0.4% fall logged in January (previously reported: -1.4% year-on-year). Non-food, non-fuel sales drove the decline, while sales of food, drinks and tobacco increased healthily.
On a monthly basis, calendar- and seasonally-adjusted real retail sales grew 0.3% in February, rebounding from the upwardly-revised 0.3% decline recorded in January (previously reported: -0.7% month-on-month). Meanwhile, the annual average variation in retail sales was stable for a third consecutive month at 0.1%.
