Taiwan: Industrial output drops at sharpest pace since March 2019 in November
Industrial output decreased 4.9% in year-on-year terms in November, which was a larger contraction than October’s 4.3% decrease. November’s result marked the worst reading since March 2019. November’s weakening was largely due to a sharper drop in manufacturing output, while electricity and gas supply output fell at a softer rate.
On a monthly basis, factory output dropped 1.1% in seasonally adjusted terms in November, contrasting Octobers 1.0% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth fell to 2.4% in November (October: +3.7%), signaling a worsening trend in the industrial sector.
