Taiwan: Inflation rises in July
Consumer prices rose 0.21% in July over the previous month, mirroring June’s reading. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food rose at a softer rate in July, while prices for housing increased. Meanwhile, transportation prices grew at a faster pace. Moreover, utility prices surged on the resumption of summer electricity rates.
Inflation came in at 2.0% in July, which was up from June’s 1.9%. Annual average inflation rose to 0.8% in July (June: 0.6%).
