Thailand: Inflation drops to lowest level since April in August
Inflation fell to 0.4% in August, below July’s 0.8%. August’s figure represented the lowest inflation rate since April. Looking at the details of the release, transportation prices dropped in August compared, and prices for housing and utilities fell at a faster pace than in July. That said, food inflation accelerated.
The annual average variation of consumer prices was flat in August, matching July’s reading. Meanwhile, core inflation ticked up to 0.6% in August from the previous month’s 0.5%.
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.07% in August over the previous month, moderating from July’s 0.19% increase.
