Thailand: Consumer prices fall on an annual basis in June
Consumer prices increased 1.56% in June over the previous month, accelerating from May’s 0.01% rise. June’s figure was the sharpest increase in prices since May 2008. The result was largely driven by rising prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, price pressures for housing and furnishing also increased.
Consumer prices fell 1.6% year-on-year in June, less than May’s 3.4% decrease. The annual average variation of consumer prices edged down to minus 0.3% in June (May: -0.1%).
