Thailand: Inflation decreases in April
Consumer prices rose 0.34% over the previous month in April, below the 0.66% rise recorded in March. April’s result marked the softest rise in prices since December 2021. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a quicker pace in April, although prices for housing and furnishing were steady were broadly in line with the previous month’s reading.
Inflation fell to 4.6% in April from March’s 5.7%. April’s figure marked the lowest inflation rate since January. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.7% in April (March: 2.6%). Finally, core inflation was stable, coming in at March’s 2.0% in April.
