Thailand: Merchandise exports contract in October
Merchandise exports fell 4.4% annually in October, contrasting Septembers 7.8% increase. Meanwhile, merchandise imports dropped 2.1% in annual terms in October (September: +15.6% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 0.6 billion deficit in October (September 2022: USD 0.9 billion deficit; October 2021: USD 0.1 billion deficit). Lastly, the trend pointed down, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 14.9 billion deficit in October, compared to the USD 14.7 billion deficit in September.
