Thailand: Merchandise exports decline in June
Merchandise exports fell 6.4% in annual terms in June (May: -4.6% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports dived 10.3% in annual terms in June (May: -3.2% yoy), marking the weakest result since December 2022.
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 0.1 billion surplus in June (May 2023: USD 1.8 billion deficit; June 2022: USD 1.1 billion deficit). Lastly, the trend improved, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 16.3 billion deficit in June, compared to the USD 17.4 billion deficit in May.
