Thailand: Merchandise exports rebound in April
Merchandise exports increased 5.8% annually in April (March: -10.2% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports climbed 6.4% over the same month last year in April (March: +5.1% yoy).
Nonetheless, the merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a USD 0.3 billion surplus in April (March 2024: USD 1.0 billion surplus; April 2023: USD 0.4 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend worsened, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 14.0 billion surplus in April, compared to the USD 14.1 billion surplus in March.
