Thailand: Merchandise exports growth slows in June
Merchandise exports were broadly stable rising just 0.3% in annual terms in June, following May’s 7.5% increase. Meanwhile, merchandise imports were also largely stable, falling just 0.1% on an annual basis in June (May: -2.3% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a USD 2.4 billion surplus in June (May 2024: USD 2.8 billion surplus; June 2023: USD 2.4 billion surplus). That said, the trend improved, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 18.8 billion surplus in June, compared to the USD 18.7 billion surplus in May.
