Turkey: Consumer confidence edges higher but remains depressed in October
Turkish consumers became slightly less pessimistic in October as the confidence index rose from 55.8 in September to 57.0. However, the index remained deeply entrenched below the 100-threshold that separates pessimism from optimism.
The improvement in sentiment came on the back of less downbeat views regarding the expected financial situation of households and the general economic climate; consequently, the outlook on the labor market improved somewhat as consumers are less expectant of a rise in unemployment. Meanwhile, the probability to save among consumers was unchanged from the prior month.
