Turkey: Consumer sentiment remains in negative territory in September, despite ticking up
Consumer confidence rose to 72.4 in September, up from August’s 72.2. However, the index remained entrenched below the 100-threshold, signaling sustained pessimism among consumers.
The headline uptick was chiefly driven by less pessimistic views regarding the general economic situation in the next 12 months and probability to purchase big-ticket items. On the other hand, attitudes towards households’ financial situations at present and in the next 12 months worsened.
