Turkey: Consumer confidence picks up but remains pessimistic in September.
Consumer confidence came in at 82.0 in September, up from August’s 79.4. As such, the index moved closer to the 100-threshold, but still indicated pessimism among consumers. The rise came on the back of an improvement in consumers’ assessments of their future and present financial situation. In addition, sentiment regarding the general economic climate also picked up.
It should be noted that with the release of the September data, the consumer confidence index has been updated by TurkStat in accordance with the recommendation of the European Commission for Economic and Financial Affairs to facilitate better international comparison. As such, historical data has been revised.
