Turkey: Inflation hits 17-month high in January
Consumer prices rose 1.68% month-on-month in January, up from Decembers 1.25% increase. The uptick reflected a notable increase in health; housing; and food and non-alcoholic beverages prices more than offsetting a steep drop in clothing and footwear prices.
Inflation, meanwhile, rose to a 17-monht high of 15.0% in January from Decembers 14.6%, while the trend pointed up with annual average inflation rising to 12.5% in January (December: 12.3%). Lastly, core inflation jumped to an 18-month high of 15.5% in January from 14.3% in December.
