Turkey: Inflation rises to near two-year high in April
Consumer prices increased 1.68% in April over the previous month, accelerating from March’s 1.08% rise. The print reflected a jump in clothing and footwear prices, while prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, and education also rose notably.
Inflation came in at 17.1% in April, following March’s 16.2%. April’s reading represented the highest inflation rate since May 2019. Annual average inflation rose to 13.7% in April (March: 13.2%). Core inflation came in at 17.8% in April from March’s 16.9% increase.
