UAE: Dubai inflation moderates in February
Inflation in Dubai inched down to 3.4% in February, which followed January’s 3.6%. The slowdown was largely due to a smaller rise in prices for food and a sharper fall in prices transport.
In addition, the trend pointed down slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.1% in February (January: 3.3%).
Lastly, consumer prices in Dubai rose 0.54% from the previous month in February, contrasting the 0.26% drop logged in January.
In other news, the statistical office recently released inflation figures for the UAE as a whole for Q3 2023 and Q4 2023. In Q3 2023, inflation came in at 0.5%, while in Q4 2023 it came in at 1.9%. This means that over 2023 as a whole, inflation averaged 1.7%, lower than 2022’s 4.8% and slightly under the average of the preceding decade.
