Ukraine: Growth jumps to two-and-a-half-year high in Q2
Growth soared to 4.6% year-on-year in the second quarter, according to preliminary data released by Ukraine’s Statistical Institute. This was up markedly from the 2.5% increase logged in Q1 and marked the fastest expansion since Q4 2016.
Although a breakdown by components is not yet available, the acceleration was likely supported by strong household consumption, thanks to rising wages and as reflected by an acceleration in retail sales growth throughout the quarter. Detailed national accounts data is scheduled to be released in mid-September.
