Ukraine: Industrial production growth accelerates in April
According to data released by the Statistical Institute, industrial output grew 3.0% in annual terms in April, accelerating from March’s 1.0% rise and the strongest reading since January. April’s pick-up came on the back of robust increases in mining and quarrying output, as well as in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply. Meanwhile, manufacturing production rose only marginally.
On the other hand, sequential data revealed that industrial production fell 5.0% from the previous month, contrasting March’s 7.6% month-on-month expansion. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial output came in at an 10-month high of 1.7% (March: +1.0%).
