Ukraine: Inflation falls in August
Consumer prices fell 0.3% month-on-month in August, which followed July’s 0.6% decrease. According to the Statistical Institute, falling prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; and transport were chiefly behind the drop.
Inflation fell to 8.8% in August, from 9.1% in July and marking the lowest reading since April. However, it still lies above the Central Bank’s 6.5% plus or minus 2.0 percentage points target range. Meanwhile, annual average inflation was stable at July’s 9.2% in August.
