Ukraine: Inflation moderates in December
Consumer prices rose 0.8% month-on-month in December, marking a four-month low (November: +1.7% month-on-month). According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the result largely reflected higher prices for food, and miscellaneous goods and services partly offset by lower prices for transport, and clothing and footwear.
Inflation eased to 9.8% in December, from 10.0% in November, edging slightly closer to the Central Bank’s 6.5% plus or minus 2.0 percentage points target range. Meanwhile, annual average inflation continued to fall in December, coming in at a 20-month low of 11.0% (November: 11.3%).
