Ukraine: Inflation ticks down in April
Consumer prices rose 0.8% month-on-month in April, down from the previous month’s 1.1% increase. The moderation was broad-based, with very marginal price hikes for housing and water, electricity, gas and other fuels offsetting stronger gains in the prices for clothing and footwear, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Inflation edged down to 13.1% in April from 13.2% in March. Higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as for tobacco and alcohol beverages, continued to drive the overall result in the month. Nevertheless, April’s print marked the lowest rate of inflation in the last 12 months. Meanwhile, annual average inflation ticked up to 14.5% in April from 14.4% in March.
