United Kingdom: Industrial activity declines in October
Industrial output dropped 0.6% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in October, which was a deterioration from September’s 0.4% decrease. Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing production was stable in October, while the decline in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply output worsened. Meanwhile, water supply production rebounded.
On an annual basis, industrial output rose at a more moderate pace of 1.4% in October (September: +2.9% yoy), the worst result since February. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 5.6% in October (September: +5.1%).
