United Kingdom: Industrial production picks up in June
Industrial production increased 0.4% in June over the prior month according to the Office for National Statistics, contrasting May’s 0.2% decline (previously reported: -0.4% month-on-month). The result was driven by growth in the manufacturing; electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning; and water supply, sewerage and waste management sub-sectors. In contrast, the mining and quarrying sub-sector contracted month-on-month.
Industrial production increased 1.1% in annual terms in June, down from May’s revised 1.2% increase (previously reported: +0.8% year-on-year). Annual average growth in industrial production was unchanged at 2.1% in June.
