United Kingdom: Inflation decreases in November
Inflation eased to 10.7% in November, following Octobers 11.1% and below market expectations. The softer rise was primarily due to a slower rise in prices for recreation and culture. In addition, price pressures for transportation increased at a slower rate.
The trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 8.6% in November (October: 8.2%). Meanwhile, core inflation edged down to 6.3% in November, from Octobers 6.4%.
Lastly, consumer prices increased 0.39% over the previous month in November, moderating from the 1.97% rise recorded in October. November’s result marked the weakest reading since January.
