United States: Inflation continues to surge in March
Consumer prices increased a seasonally-adjusted 1.24% from the previous month in March, accelerating from the 0.80% rise seen in February. The acceleration was broad-based, with greater price pressures recorded for energy and transport.
Inflation rose to 8.5% in March from February’s 7.9%. Annual average inflation rose to 6.2% in March (February: 5.7%). Finally, core inflation was stable at February’s 6.4% in March.
