United States: Labor market continues to tighten in November
Total non-farm payrolls increased by 210,000 in November, following October’s 546,000 increase in payrolls. Employment gains occurred in professional and business services, in manufacturing, in transportation and warehousing, and construction.
The unemployment rate ticked down to 4.2% in November from 4.6% in October, and the labor force participation rate increased from 61.6% in October to 61.8% in November. Hourly earnings rose 0.3% month-on-month in November (October: +0.4% mom), while annual wage growth was stable at October’s 4.8% in November.
