Vietnam: Inflation falls to lowest level since May in September
Consumer prices increased 0.12% in September over the previous month, broadly unchanged from August’s 0.07% increase. Looking at the details of the release, education prices rose at a quicker pace in September compared to the previous month, while prices pressures for transportation fell.
Inflation came in at 3.0% in September, easing slightly from August’s 3.2%. September’s reading marked the lowest inflation rate since May. Annual average inflation edged up to 3.8% in September (August: 3.7%).
Looking ahead, our panelists see inflation remaining moderate, which should provide room for the State Bank of Vietnam to continue to adopt an accommodative monetary stance.
