Inflation rises in September from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 2.7% in annual terms in September, following a 1.9% rise in the previous month. Relative to the previous month's data, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+1.5% in annual terms vs -2.4% in August), recreation (+2.7% vs +2.0% in August) and restaurants and hotels (+3.0% vs +2.6% in August). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+4.8% vs +5.1% in August) and housing and utilities (+2.8% vs +2.9% in August). Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 2.7% in September, following a 1.9% rise in the previous month. Finally, harmonized consumer prices were down 0.24% in September on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.41% rise in the prior month.
