Bélgica: Consumer sentiment deteriorates in May
The consumer confidence index came in at minus 9.0 in May, down from April’s minus 6.0. As such, May’s result declined further below the index’s long-term average of minus 6.
Looking at the details of the release, all subcomponents of the consumer confidence index worsened. Consumers’ expectations for the next 12 months deteriorated, most notably regarding the labor market. Additionally, consumers’ expectations with regard to their saving intentions, their financial situation and their assessment about the overall Belgian economy.
